Once ~ Christ Bore the Sins of Many

Aren’t you over~joyed that Christ freely sacrificed His own precious blood to bear the sins of many?! And because His sacrificial offering was a once in a lifetime occurence that lasts through all eternity our sins are fully atoned.

Nothing else is needed to cleanse sin. Nothing else could ever do what His spotless, blemishless blood has already done. No other work can finish what Christ has already finished Himself. We can trust fully in the complete work of Jesus Christ to cleanse us from all sin for all time. Jesus’ blood was and is and forever will be enough. Christ the Saviour’s one time sacrifice was and is complete, so complete that His shed Blood has enough power to cleanse all sin for all time.

Scipture says Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. His one sacrifice of Himself was sufficient to put away sin. By His own blood He entered once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. (from Hebrews 9)

Once we receive His free gift of salvation He will not need to offer His own blood again. Even though we have trusted in His blood to cleanse us we will sin in this life, in this body of flesh. God has provided for this. He knew it would happen so He made a plan. (I John 1:7-2:2) The blood of Christ would still forever be enough to wash away all sin.

When we sin, no matter how often, no matter how horribly or how lightly, Christ does not have to be crucified again…therefore once we have trusted in Jesus’ blood to save us we cannot let go of our own salvation, we cannot give it back, we are unable to give it up, set it aside nor does God remove salvation from us when we have been bad.

If it were up to us to keep our own salvation, how much sin or what particular sin has enough power over the spotless, precious blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God? I did not save myself and I cannot keep myself. That would be self-reliance. And that is pride.

Praise God! Nothing I have done or ever do could save me! Nothing I do keeps me! Praise Jesus, I don’t possess any power, apart from the Spirit of God Himself living in me, to walk in the Spirit, or to stay away from sin! Anything right and good in me is ALL HIM! May I never, EVER boast in ANYthing but the blood of Jesus Christ alone! HIS power and HIS grace is enough! Our only part is to say, “Yes!”.

Read Hebrews chapter 9. Read the books of John, Romans, and Ephesians! Learn the plain, simple, Glorious Truth of what Jesus did, what HE finished for you and me, for whosoever will! God’s Word manifests to us Who He is, but not only Who He is , but we also learn through His Word who we are…past, present, and future! Look into The Holy Scriptures to see God, to see His Son, His Holy Spirit, to see others and to see yourself. The Holy Bible is the only place to find and see Truth.

Thank You, Jesus, for the rest and assurance that your salvation gives to me. Thank You for Your Holy Spirit alive in me…Who never leaves me helpless or powerless; Who never leaves me to myself; Who never allows me to sin, even a speck, without repercussion; Who inspires me to love; Who empowers me to do good; Who stirs up in me deep gratitude for the precious grace I have received! His grace alone is enough to inspire me to pursue godly living, just because I love HIM. I love Him. I trust in Him fully, securely…HE is all I need.

Is He all you need? Do you fully rely on Jesus? Have you placed all your faith in the one time blood sacrifice of The Saviour, Jesus Christ? Do you know that you are saved by His grace? Do you know that Jesus is enough?

Good Morning Girls ~ Ephesians Week 12 ~ Part I

On this closing day of our Good Morning Girls Ephesians book club I share with you our final week’s study notes in two parts. It has been a joy to study along with you! The book of Ephesians has blessed my heart, blessed my life and spurred me on in the Lord!

God bless you as you continue to devote a portion of every day to spend time with Jesus, the King of kings! It’s a daily Father/Daughter date! That He would meet with me makes me feel so cared for! I know I am loved by Almighty God, the Designer and Creator of the Universe!

Now notes from Ephesians…

Thursday, March 29, 2012
Good morning!:) In Ephesians 6:7-8 Paul continues to teach how we are to obey our masters.
We are to have good intentions, good will toward them or we could also say, no ill-will or ill-intent. We should also know that the Lord will reward all we do here in earth and in heaven.
As I go about my duties, am I respectful or am I critical? Am I guarded against being self-centered or having an entitlement attitude or do I have genuine good will toward those I serve?

Friday, March 30, 2012
Good morning, Ephesians Book Club!:) Today we are in Ephesians 6:9. Masters, (leaders, bosses), just as servants/workers are expected to treat you w/respect, sincerity, and genuine good will, masters are to dedicate themselves to do likewise. Give up disrespectful, threatening leadership. Human masters are to know that their Master is in Heaven judging earthly matters without partiality. Recall Philippians 2:3!

Let nothing be done
through strife or vainglory;
but in lowliness of mind
let each esteem other
better than themselves.

Whether the captain or the crew, may we always serve others and esteem them better then ourselves!

Monday, April 2, 2012
Good Morning as we kick off the final week of our Ephesians Bible study/book club with Ephesians 6:10-12! Until the Lord returns let us all continually be strengthened by His mighty power! It is imperative that we arm ourselves with the equipment God has provided in order for us to stand in the battle against the devil’s schemes. While it may appear our enemy is mankind, it is not. Our enemy is the devil and his workers. This is a spiritual battle for eternal souls!
Therefore, let’s stop fighting each other, especially at home, remember these conflicts we face daily are only temporal. What really matters is Eternity! So, when I’m in a struggle, I’ll keep putting on the whole armor of God and then ask myself, in light of Eternity does this really matter!?!

Tuesday, April 3, 2012
Good Morning to you! Do you start your day, head into battle, without putting on your armor? God tells us in Ephesians 6:13-15 & also 16-17 this is our defense against the evil that continually threatens His children in this world. Just as it’d be crazy to show up for combat wearing blue jeans, t-shirt, flip flops, carrying a squirt gun, it’s just as foolish and naive to walk in this world an unprepared, unarmed Christian. Literally, let’s put on our full armor of God before we face each day encounter any situation.

Wednesday, April 4, 2012
Good morning! We are almost to the end of the book of Ephesians! And signs show we quickly are nearing the end of this age, though no one knows the end but the Father. Times are hard. The devil is frantic. Christians must stand strong! Take up the shield of faith, put on the helmet of salvation, hold on to the Sword of the Spririt~God’s Word! We can quench the fiery darts of the devil! Watch over yourselves, your family, your home! Let’s give him no foothold! Let’s look alive! Let’s suit up! (Ephesians 6:16-17)

Thursday, April 5, 2012
Good morning! From Ephesians 6:18 my encouragement today is this… After “having done all to stand” we are then told to PRAY for one another in the Spirit. Remember on every occasion, every chance we get to earnestly and humbly seek God. Watch, pay attention, be vigilant. Despite the difficulties, despite setbacks, despite opposition LOOK to GOD, PRAY and STAND against the fiery darts of evil! Steadfastly FOLLOW after that which is GOOD! Take our eyes off the world and keep our eyes on the LORD! We can do that! God bless you and your family! God bless your home!

Good Morning Girls ~ Ephesians Week 12 ~ Part II

Friday, April 6, 2012
Good Morning on this final day of our GMG Ephesians book study! It’s been a blessed journey!

Today we close with Paul’s detailed request for prayer in Ephesians 6: 19-24. I see 7 requests on his prayer list that progressively become more specific.

May this be our prayer, as well.

1- I pray that God will give me *utterance; that He will give me a voice, an opportunity to speak.

*utterance: articulation; a stated or published expression; a voice; power, style or manner of speaking

2- I pray that I will open my mouth *boldly.

*boldly: fearlessly, bravely; confident, assured

3- I pray that I will be a witness and promote the Gospel of truth.

4- I pray that I will be a witness wherever I am speaking assuredly just as the Lord would have me speak.

5- I pray that I will be transparent and accountable to the family of God.

6- I pray that I, with my family or any other team I might minister alongside, will be a comfort and an encouragement to the family of God, our brothers and sisters in Christ.

7- I pray that I will be a blessing, bringing to the brethren who sincerely love Jesus…peace, God’s faithful love, and grace.

Good Morning ~ Ephesians Week 9

20120314-065024.jpg

Good Morning! Here are my notes for the tail end of week 8 and so far in week 9. Do you want to compare notes? I love seeing what you see! It encourages & strengthens my faith when another believer shares what God has given them through Scripture! Isn’t it so good to have those “ah-ha” moments?!!! I know!

Wed, March 7, 2012
Good morning:)! These next 3 days in our Ephesians study we see 5 steps or guidelines to live by as a new creation in Christ. The first 2 are in our passage today, Eph 4:25-27:
#1) no more lying; tell the truth
#2) no more sinful anger; brief righteous indignation so we don’t give the devil opportunities
Being angry is not always sin. There is much sin and evil that a Christian can and should be angry about. But God is specific that we should not be angry and sin. We need to have self control, take the issue to the Lord, & prevent bitterness, etc by coming to a resolution before the days end. Don’t go to bed angry.

Fri, March 9, 2012 *notes for Thursday and Friday…
[Prayers & sleep comments are here after a long night/week of 8 very sick children!]

Good Morning! Thank you for your prayers! We all finally had a good night’s sleep! Yay!
Continuing from Wednesday’s theme this portion of Scripture (Eph 4:28-32) gives us 5 guidelines now that we are a new creation in Christ:
#3) Replace theft with honest, good, hard work so that you can help others in need.
# 4) Replace foul, & ugly language w/grace filled communication that edifies & doesn’t grieve the Holy Spirit.
#5) Replace resentment & wrath w/kindness & forgive just the same as God has forgiven you.
Words to live by!:)

Mon, March 12, 2012
Good Morning!:) Eph 5:1-4 is clear on what is appropriate for a follower of God and what is inappropriate.
It’s appropriate to walk as dear children, in love, like Christ in complete sweet surrender, giving thanks.
What is inappropriate? Fooling around outside of marriage, all things impure, coveting, being dirty/filthy, foolish talking, harsh/crude joking. This is NOT suitable, fitting, proper, or anything like a follower of God. It is wrong. Being this way, doing these things is in direct opposition to The Lord & as His followers we must stay away from all forms of it. He says, rather than these awful things being named & part of our conversation or conduct… Just give thanks instead! How simple is that!

Tues, March 13, 2012
Good morning! Further urgent warnings today from Eph 5:5-7. Those who do wicked things, impure persons cannot inherit the kingdom of God. (Also see I Cor 6:9-11, Eph 2:8-10)
Wicked living makes God angry w/the children of disobedience. Do not be any part of it! This should remind us that God gave His dear Son. Jesus willingly endured death on the cross to wash away our wickedness. How can we play w/sin knowing how He gave His life to make us clean?! Follow only Jesus. Be set free from sin for good! It is not a game. You cannot serve God and the world!

Wed, March 14, 2012
Good morning! Today in Eph 5:8-14, CHRISTIANS, we’re reminded of our past & present CONDITION: We used to be darkness. Now we are light in the Lord.
Look @ our COMMANDS:
*Walk like children of light.
* Do not fellowship with dark/evil works.
* Shed light on the truth of evil & the danger, warning that it’s a shame to even talk about it, let alone be a part of it.
And for those who aren’t followers yet:
* Wake up. You are asleep.
* Get up from the dead. Turn from your sin.
* Christ promises to give you enlightment!!!
HE is reaching for you! Reach back. Follow HIM & never turn back!!!:) Be FOREVER changed!!!
HOPE! HELP! Jesus is the HOPE & HELP of ALL!

20120314-065859.jpg
No matter what pace you are walking through Ephesians you are doing wonderful! Can you believe we only have a few more weeks left in the book of Ephesians?! I already can hardly wait to hear from Good Morning Girls what book we are studying next time!!! If you are on a different schedule it’s ok! Take your time finishing up. You will be soooo glad you did! There is usually a break of several weeks before beginning a new study with GMG, so you can also use those weeks to finish up. Then we can start fresh together!

The LORD is good! HE will bless any and all time spent in His Word!!! I’m so glad you are walking through Ephesians beside me! Thank you!:)

Women in the Word ~ Ephesians Week 7

*Little note for my email subscribers: Please forgive the incomplete post you received this morning. I accidentally hit “publish” when I actually wanted to “update” it as a draft. Oops! Ok, so here’s the intended post… Thank you for your patience with my goof-ups. 🙂

I love the encouragement this morning from Good Morning Girls! Therefore, I can’t resist sharing an exerpt and invite you to read the entire post, if you haven’t already. Here is the latter portion from Whitney’s post that really spoke to me. Enjoy your precious time growing in God’s Word!

From GMG:

And I have to wonder when we struggle with the unity that Paul speaks of in Ephesians 4, if we’ve held on to some wrong thinking for far too long:

*Have we hidden behind our own preferences instead of agreeing on truth (remember that much of what we get “stuck” on isn’t even biblical thinking!)?

*Do we rely on the same convenient excuses year after year?

*If we were willing to bend just a little on the negotiables, could God use us more effectively?

*Could God be calling us to get out of our comfort zones in order to be an encouragement to someone in need?

*Are we plain just letting fear get in the way?

Unity in our relationships is not always easy. In fact, let’s be honest… sometimes it is the last thing we want to do! But Paul is calling us to maturity. To focus on what really matters. To remember that we are all on level ground at the foot of the cross.

”…I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” ~Ephesians 4:1-3

And here’s the amazing thing: when we finally let go of “our way” and submit to practicing unity the way God intended?

Freedom comes.

Is it time for you to let go of something that has hindered unity, so that you can start enjoying the ride?

Women in the Word Wednesday ~ Ephesians Week 5

20120215-085356.jpg

Good Morning Girls! It makes all the difference to know God! Because I know God and the more I know God the more I know who I am. I am His! He loves me. He is my Maker, my Creator, the Designer of me.

The world talks of self esteem, self confidence, self worth. A born again, new creation in Christ Jesus needs to have God esteem, God confidence, and only find all their worth in God.

God’s way is mysteriousl
Lower yourself and He will lift you up. …James 1:9, James 4:10
Loose your life and you will find it. …Matt 10:39
Give yourself and you will receive. …II Cor 9:6-8
Esteem others better than yourself and joy will be complete. …Phil 2
The first shall be last and the last shall be first. …Mark 10:31

Can you see yourself in the Scriptures? Do you know who you really are?

You are precious to God! …Psalm 139:17

You are loved with an everlasting love! …Jeremiah 31:3

God will perfect that which concerneth you! …Ps 138:8

Paul called himself less than the least of all saints. He humbly walked with God and preached the Gospel. He was confident of who he was in Christ, dedicated himself to all the work and suffering for Christ’s sake, and realized his life’s mission to serve others.

Walking with Jesus,

Women in the Word Wednesday ~ Ephesians Week 4

20120208-063120.jpg

Good Morning Girls!:)

We are moving along through our exciting study of the book of Ephesians. The thing that is impressing me the most so far this week in Ephesians chapter 2, verses 11-18 is the constant reminder of these three things:

1) Remembering where I came from is a time of Celebration! I am no longer separated from God! I now have HOPE!

Hearken to Me,
ye that follow after righteousness,
ye that seek the Lord:
look unto the rock whence ye are hewn,
and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged. ~Isaiah 51:1

(I hope you’ll read this entire wonderful chapter!)

I waited patiently for the Lord;
and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay,
and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
And he hath put a new song in my mouth,
even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord…
Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done…
~from Psalm 40

2) No matter how far away from God I used to be, no matter where I came from or “how lost” I once was, I NOW have access to the Father through The Cross of Christ! CHRIST is now my PEACE…my peace within, my peace with God and my peace with the whole body of Christ, all those who were brought near!

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:
old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ,
and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
~2 Corinthians 5:17-18

3) Christ came for ALL the world! Whosoever Will! Through Christ we who believe are one body, with and just as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are! God through Jesus, closed the gap between people groups and in Jesus Christ, His Cross, His Blood, we are one!

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ:
for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth;
to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
~Romans 1:16

That whosoever believeth in Him
should not perish,
but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world,
that He gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in Him
should not perish,
but have everlasting life.
~John 3:15-16

Women in the Word ~ Ephesians Week 3

20120201-081638.jpg

Welcome to Women in the Word Wednesday! Our study of Ephesians is going so wonderfully! Of you all who have left comments here, on my personal facebook page or on the Bones in My Heart facebook page we can see that your time with the Lord and your steady walk through Ephesians is very special! It is for me, too! It is such an encouragement to me and I’m sure to other readers/friends as well, to see your posts and comments.

So, a big Thank You, to those who have shared. Sharing, leaving comments here on the blog commment roll and the blog facebook page are the most effective way to keep us connected with one another. And I know for me, I love reading your comments on how God is blessing you! It strengthens my own faith when I hear and see how God is blessing you!

Could you all do me a favor? If you are studying Ephesians along with us, another portion of Scripture or, if you are just happy to be a reader of Bones in My Heart, will you please let us all know by leaving a comment here and click “like” on the Bones in My Heart facebook page and leaving a comment there! Wouldn’t you all LOVE to see how many of us have joined in on this wonderful dedicated time to be in the Word together! Thank you for taking the time to join this little community! You all are a blessing to me!

One more thing! Is anyone memorizing Scripture right now?! What are you working on? I’m so disappointed in myself. I have slowed wayyyy down on my Scripture memory project lately. I use, what I call my Memory Trigger Sheets to memorize long passages. You can read more about that here. Memorizing James has been a long term project for me, but I’ve been dragging it out far too long (I’m too ashamed to say how long).

So, after a wonderful talk on skype Monday evening with one of my honorary daughters who is away at Bible college, “hey, Ginger girl!”, I am thinking of making myself a Bible memory schedule to help me reach my big goal. Little by little, bit by bit, errr bite by bite…that is how you eat an elephant, isn’t it? I’ll work on that and when I get it together I will post it for you.

It’s kind of like having our Ephesians study schedule and worksheets, huh? It’s extremely helpful to have our daily reading schedule mapped out for us and then a worksheet formatted for our notes for the day! (Thank you, Good Morning Girls blog for offering this wonderful tool!!!)

Could you use some inspiration to memorize Scripture? Do you like a challenge? Even memorizing just one verse a week will change your life! 🙂

Ok, now it’s your turn! Talk back!:)

Women in the Word Wednesday

Well, GOOD MORNING! We are on now on the third day of our GMG Ephesians Bible study! I hope you are enjoying your time with the Lord in His Word! Isn’t it wonderful to purposefully sit with your Bible, reading and journaling a few verses at a time, looking at them slowly and carefully?! I love how this method allows me to truly meditate on the Scripture, letting it really sink in, as if to marinate my mind in the Word!

Praying over these Scriptures during my quiet time, I have found myself this week, mostly thanking Him in my prayers!

I am blessed with every spiritual blessing in Heavenly places!
In Christ, I am chosen, before Creation, to be blameless and holy before God!
It pleased God to adopt me, through Jesus Christ!
He has freely bestowed His grace on me!
In Christ I have Redemption, Forgiveness and the Richness of God’s Grace is LAVISHED on me!
It is His pleasure to make His will, His Sovereignty, His Providence in Heaven and on earth known to me!

Wow, as I have read and meditated on these passages, there is no denying that GOD LOVES ME! He has always intended (before time began!) to make me His daughter, care for me, provide for me, have a personal relationship with me, to give me freedom from my sin and lavish His rich, full grace upon me! It is His good pleasure, His kind intention!!! Amazing!

What a blessing to share now with all our readers! What special thing have you received these past few days in Ephesians? Let’s weekly encourage and cheer one another on in The Lord! Be a part. Your words, no matter how few, may be exactly what someone needs to read!

God bless each and every one of you as we continue on! I am praying for you!

Walking with Jesus,

Good Morning Girls!

20120111-061512.jpg

The new Good Morning Girls study of Ephesians begins Monday, January 16! To join us, go to GMG and print the free S.O.A.P. Bible study worksheets. Some women have them spiral bound. Some put them in a folder or binder. I put them in my three ring binder, I call my Bible Study Notebook. Also, while you are at Good Morning Girls be sure to subscribe to the blog so you will receive the weekly posts that go along with the Bible study!

Each day follow along with the verse by verse study. On Wednesdays here at Bones in My Heart we will share something from our Quiet Times in Ephesians and invite you all to share in the comments section, as well!

At the end of this post there is further explanation of the S.O.A.P. Bible study method by Angela, the co-founder of Good Morning Girls. If you’ve not done the S.O.A.P. method of study, you will discover while it is so simple, it will have a lasting impact! In this study we will walk slowly, steadily through the book of the Bible. This allows us to meditate on what we have read. The Word is securely planted into the fertile soil of our hearts, takes root, grows and remains. And that’s what we want, right?!

I am so excited to take on this study with you! Do you know that more than 2,500 women in all 50 states and more than 20 countries around the world all are going to begin studying Ephesians next week?!!! I think that is SO incredible!

I am praying for us all as we prepare for our Bible study! Thank you for joining us! Please, invite your friends to join in, too! You could even invite a group of women in your area to meet once a week or once a month to share what you are learning, pray and encourage each other! You will be blessed, I just know it!

Walking with Jesus,

20120111-062337.jpg

Angela, from GMG explaining the S.O.A.P. study method:

Here I explain in greater detail what each section stands for, remember these are just guidelines to help you.

S- stands for “Scripture” you are to write out the verses in your own handwriting. By the end of our James study, you will have written out the WHOLE book of James! Also writing out the scripture helps you to understand it better and take a closer, slower look at the verses.

O- stands for “Observations“, what do you notice in this passage? You may want to summarize the verses in your own words, but most importantly write down what you hear God saying to you in these verses. What new observations or insights have you learned?

A- stands for “Application“, how can you apply what you just read to your life? Make it personal. Is there something that you need to change? Someone you need to forgive?

P- stands for “Prayer“, pray over what God has shown you today through His Word. Ask Him to help you live it out.

Thanks for making the time to be in God’s Word a priority in your life!

Learning to LOVE GOD GREATLY right along with you!!!

-Angela

*Also, at Women Living Well, along the right sidebar, Courtney has a video explaining how she uses the S.O.A.P. method. When you arrive at her blog look to the right and keep scrolling down the page until you see a series of videos in the right sidebar. Enjoy!
